This deal on the LG UN7400 55in is easily one of the best-value 4K HDR TV offers we’ve seen in the early Black Friday sales. Having launched at £750 earlier this year, the LG has had a few discounts in recent months, but now Currys PC World has gone a step further and slashed it down to its lowest price ever. With this latest £70 discount, the LG UN7400 55in costs only £429 – a whopping £320 off its RRP.
In fact, this means that the LG UN7400 55in is actually £20 cheaper than its predecessor, the superb LG UM7400 , which we reviewed at £449. And it’s even more impressive when you consider that the UM7400 we tested was a smaller 49in model, rather than the hefty 55in unit on sale here.

Through LG’s intuitive webOS smart platform you can access practically every paid streaming platform going, from Netflix and Disney+ to Amazon Prime Video and Now TV. BBC iPlayer is here too, but the other free UK catch-up apps have yet to be added. To get these, you could simply buy a cheap 4K HDR streaming stick such as the Roku Premiere (currently on sale for only £27) .
The LG UM7400 was our most highly recommended budget 4K TV of 2019, which should explain why we’re so excited about this stonking discount on its 2020 sequel, the LG UN7400. Cheap 4K HDR TVs often struggle to deliver impactful HDR performance because they lack the brightness and contrast levels of more premium models, but the UM7400 punched well above its weight in this regard.
Like the UM7400, the UN7400 supports two HDR formats, namely HDR 10 and the broadcast-friendly HLG, and if its HDR playback is anything as good as its precursor’s (and by all accounts it is), you’ll be more than satisfied at this price. The UN7400 is also a nifty budget gaming TV thanks to its auto-low latency mode (ALLM) support.
ALLM activates the TV’s low latency Game mode when compatible consoles such as the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X are connected, sacrificing a certain amount of picture processing in favour of much faster response times. Last year’s LG UM7400 delivered a class-leading input lag of just 12ms, which is just as fast as some of 2020’s top 4K gaming sets. We expect a similar result from the LG UN7400, so it should be perfect for playing fast-paced online games where every millisecond counts.
