OLED TVs reproduce stunning colour reproduction, with deep black colours, a wide colour gamut, and wide viewing angles. It isn’t surprising to see television manufacturers opting to use this technology. Panasonic’s new EZ1002 takes it to another level. At 77in, it’s the biggest 4K Ultra HD OLED TV on the market. At IFA 2017, I got a first look at the big TV.

Panasonic EZ1002 review: UK price and release date
No pricing information was announced in Berlin, but you can expect it to be pricey. The big 77in TV will be available in stores across Europe this autumn. We’ll be sure to update this article once we get an official UK price and specific release date.
Panasonic EZ1002 review: Build quality and design
The huge 77in TV comes with a near-borderless design, meaning it will sit in your living room or cinema room without creating too many distractions.
At the base of the television, there are two forward-firing Technics speakers, which Panasonic call the "Blade". These produce a far superior audio quality than built-in TV systems.
If the base doesn’t fit in your living room, you can always use the VESA mount to wall-mount it.
Panasonic EZ1002 review: Image quality
The Panasonic EZ1002 is a 77in 4K Ultra HD OLED television with HDR. Powered by the Studio Colour HCX2 Processor, the television manages to deliver accurate colours that have been fine-tuned by Deluxe’s Company 3, EFILM, and Encore Hollywood colourist, image scientists and engineers.
The chipset is able to reproduce stunning colours and impressive black levels. To my eyes, the OLED screen is impressive, especially in dark scenes, with deep black colours appearing as they should – not a dark shade of grey.
The panel features HDR10 and will come with HDR10+, which is a new open-source standard that Panasonic, Samsung and 20th Century Fox are pushing. HDR enriches the panel’s brightness levels, colour accuracy and maximises image quality.
Panasonic EZ1002 review: Early verdict
Looking at the television’s demos and comparing it to its smaller siblings, it’s impressive to see such a large television able to display such accurate colours and deep blacks. It’s too early to judge, as pricing has yet to be announced, but if you’re looking for a big TV and will have a large sum of money to splash out on a TV, the Panasonic EZ1002 might just be the ultimate purchase.
