The Field Constructs Design Competition, which invited emerging designers, architects, landscape architects, and artists to propose temporary installations for a landfill turned park in Austin, Texas, has announced its 18 finalists. The call for entries attracted submissions from around the world: Four continents and nine countries were represented. The brief called for site-specific projects that would engage the community and foster innovation in regard to design and environmental impact.
The winning designs, to be announced next week, will be built in the Circle Acres Nature Preserve in Austin's Montopolis neighborhood. The final structures will be open to the public November 14 through 22.
