The Chicago-based Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) has announced the winner of its Urban Habitat Award, along with four runners-up. The award celebrates the contributions, both environmental and social, of tall buildings to their surroundings
This year’s winner is the ParkRoyal on Pickering, a hotel in Singapore. The 12-story structure is highly regarded for its green space: Some 161,000 square feet of it surrounds the building through a series of terraces, balconies, and plazas that recall the rice paddies of the region.
The four finalists named in the competition are the Chatswood Transport Interchange in Sydney, the Zaha Hadid–designed D’Leedon in Singapore, the Jing An Kerry Centre in Shanghai, and the Tour Carpe Diem in Paris.
